Delicately prepared seafood!

Anyone who still thinks that the cuisine in Great Britain is a dodgy pleasure will be proved wrong everywhere in Cornwall. Seafood lovers in particular get their money's worth in Cornwall. But the classic fish & chips is also a safe bet for children. Here is a selection of places to savour:

Nathan Outlaw in Port Isaac (https://outlaws.co.uk/)

Anyone travelling to Cornwall from the north-west should plan a stop in Port Isaac. The picturesque town is not only the cinematic home of Doc Martin and the origin of the Fishermen Friends, but also of Nathan Outlaw, who now has two restaurants in the village. Gourmets will find exquisite seafood here. OUTLAW'S FISH KITCHEN is located in the centre of the village opposite the harbour in a quaint building. Unfortunately, unlike in the past, only set menus are offered here. The somewhat more upmarket OUTLAW'S NEW ROAD, up on the cliff overlooking the sea, at least serves a la carte at lunchtime.

Padstow is almost known as a stronghold of gourmets. However, this does not detract from the friendly atmosphere. However, Rick Stein, the forefather of Cornish fish cuisine, is probably not entirely innocent. For those who have not managed to reserve a table in the restaurant (and for those whose culinary travel budget is not quite so loose), here is a tip: Rick Stein's bistro is located directly on the extended harbour and diagonally opposite the Lobster Hatchery. Here you can enjoy delicious fish to eat in or take away to sit on the quay wall.

The small restaurant ‘Prawn on the Lawn’ in the second row of the harbour is an absolutely recommendable new discovery. Here, fish dishes are prepared in a completely new dimension of flavour. All served as tappas to share (or not, as the case may be). Each dish leaves you wanting more - and so you quickly try the entire menu. Casual, friendly atmosphere. Small place - booking recommended. Enjoy your meal!

The Peterville Inn in St Agnes (https://www.thepetervilleinn.co.uk/)

At first glance, St Agnes is a little confusing, but in itself a very calm and beautiful place. The Peterville Inn is located at the fork in the road to the Cove. As well as delicious fish and chips, it also serves very tasty burgers (if you don't fancy fish). And please leave room for dessert. The front section at the bar is particularly cosy. The tables in this area are allocated without reservation. Outside seating is also available - but only with a ‘connection to the car park’. The pub is also popular with locals, especially in the low season.

Porthminster Beach Cafe in St Ives (https://www.porthminstercafe.co.uk/)

Anyone travelling to Cornwall cannot avoid St Ives. No other place offers such enchanting light and such an artistic history. However, in the summer months, it can quickly become very lively. The Porthminster Beach Cafe is located right at the entrance to the town - on Porthminster Beach. Right on the beach and with a direct view of the bay and part of St Ives. But it's not just the ambience that's impressive, the cuisine has also been of a very high standard for years. As our daughter said: ‘The fish & chips here are simply still the best (and the lobster is not to be sniffed at either).
