Detox

The topic of detox comes up again and again when it comes to a healthy lifestyle and, in particular, a healthy diet. The multitude of foods and recipes can sometimes make the topic quite confusing. That's why today I'm giving you a selection of drinks, teas and smoothies that are said to have a health-promoting detox effect. Including a few ideas on which ingredients are good for our bodies and what exactly we can expect from them.


 
Green smoothie

The green smoothie has almost become a real hype on social media, because all Pilates and clean girls swear by this drink.

But there really is something to this hype, because the ingredients strengthen the immune system and aid digestion. The recipe itself is not very complicated:


1 handful of baby spinach

1 thumb-sized piece of ginger

2 celery stalks

1/2 green apple

1/2 cucumber

1/4 lemon with peel (preferably organic)

5 leaves of peppermint

 
Green tea

Green tea is said to have the ability to influence the formation of cancer, as it protects the body's cells. Among other things, it ensures a healthy skin barrier.

The anti-inflammatory effect of antioxidants such as flavonoids is also good for irritated skin or even acne.

The catechins it contains are also said to promote blood circulation and thus counteract cardiovascular diseases. The digestion of both fat and sugar is also positively influenced by this healing tea.

Due to its positive properties, green tea is very popular as a dietary supplement. Matcha (a green tea ground into powder) also falls into this category: so if you're already a fan of the matcha trend, you can enjoy your tea all the more next time.


Please note: As green tea can also have a stimulating effect and has a similar effect to coffee, don't drink it too late in the evening.


 
Apple cider vinegar

As the name suggests, this household remedy is very acidic. It should therefore never be taken pure, but always with water, as this prevents damage to the sensitive tooth surface. Of course, this acid also has advantages!

As it promotes the production of saliva and stomach acid, apple cider vinegar aids digestion and can even reduce the feeling of bloating or heartburn. It can also lower blood sugar levels by increasing sensitivity to insulin.


 
Peppermint tea with lemon and ginger

Peppermint is known for its beneficial effect on digestive complaints and the like. But also for the antioxidants it contains, which makes it an important detox plant.

In addition to their detox effect, lemons are also a miracle cure when it comes to skin health. Not only does the vitamin C it contains strengthen the skin barrier, but the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect also minimises impurities.

Ginger has a similar effect, as it stimulates the production of gastric juices and can therefore alleviate bloating.


To summarise, this tea is made from real superfoods and is also really tasty. One of my favourite teas!



 
Beetroot juice

Beetroot juice is a real all-rounder, as it also promotes blood circulation and ensures a healthy cardiovascular system by lowering cholesterol levels.

Due to the high antioxidant content, the cells of our body are protected and the iron content of the beetroot strengthens our immune system and our body's energy supply, among other things.


 
Chia water

Chia seeds can store water incredibly well and are therefore very good for detoxification, as water is the best means of transport for our body to get rid of harmful substances. Because chia seeds are very rich in fibre, they can prevent hunger pangs and ensure healthy intestinal flora. They can even help with joint pain.

So if you want to try the trend, which I highly recommend, here is the recipe:


1 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds


250 millilitres of water




The whole thing should then rest in the fridge for an hour so that the power drink can develop its effect.
