As we're already a few months into 2024 and some people's motivation to ‘do sports’ is waning, I want to give you some inspiration with this blog post.

The first part will show you some practical and pretty products that will make you the ‘it’ girl in the gym. Later, I will introduce you to some helpful tips for sports.

There are, of course, many brands that produce high-quality sportswear. However, in this blog post I will be presenting my personal favourites.

PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS

Sporthosen

My normal long sports trousers are from Nike because the cut fits me very well.

I've always had a bit of trouble finding sports trousers that fit well at the front and I'm very happy with the Nike cut.

I'm also impressed with the quality, as the trousers still don't have any holes in the knees despite a few endurance tests.

However, I don't wear Nike shorts because I don't like the length.

Instead, I bought a pair of Hollister sports trousers because they have a nice fit and I really like the cut.

The trousers also have a sewn-in pocket at the back that fits a mobile phone, making them ideal for jogging.

Sportoberteile

I like to buy sports bras regularly at Decathlon. Important to note: They are slightly smaller, so I would recommend going up a size, but they are very comfortable to wear.

The design is also very nice and I find sports bras that are slightly longer very practical as you can also wear them as a top.

For normal sports tops, I wear different brands (preferably from Hollister) or just normal tops from my wardrobe.

However, I wanted to give a recommendation to anyone who enjoys outdoor sports even in cold temperatures. For a long time I had difficulty finding a comfortable sports top to wear in winter.

I've had Uniqlo's thermal clothing for a while now and I'm very happy with it. It is suitable as ski underwear but of course also for any other sport.

The products are very comfortable to wear and don't scratch at all - as is the case with some woollen shirts. They also dry incredibly quickly, keep you warm and don't start to smell harsh even after an intensive sports session.

I actually have a trendsetter when it comes to sportswear in my wardrobe and I'm thrilled with it. Not exactly cheap, but the Define Jacket from Lululemon is a good investment.

I have the cropped version because the regular one would have been a bit too long for me.

I am absolutely satisfied with the jacket. It creates a very nice body shape and is very comfortable to wear.

The jacket is also great for jogging because it has a high collar and zippered pockets where you can easily store your cell phone. Here too I recommend a size larger.

Sportschuhe

When it comes to sports shoes, I like to go for Nike because I have very narrow feet and most sports shoes have always been too wide for me. I ended up trying on the Nike ones. The feel and fit are very comfortable.

It's easy to walk in them because they are very light and the ball of the foot can be rolled easily so that you have good mobility with the shoe. The raised heel makes this even more comfortable and easier. Thanks to the consistently breathable fabric, heat does not build up and the foot does not sweat uncomfortably during the exercise session.

If you need a slightly more springy and therefore thicker sole for running, you should take a look at Hoka. I personally have no experience with the shoes, but a good friend has this model for jogging and can highly recommend the brand.

They make rolling your foot easier and the heel is slightly cushioned, which is healthier and more comfortable for the knees.

Jacken

Here, too, you can find what you're looking for in the classic sports brands. For example, I have a rain jacket from Nike that I like to wear when jogging because it's very light and also water-repellent, which makes it ideal for layering on cold and rainy days.

However, if it gets really cold or you want a perfectly practical jacket for outdoor sports, my family has had very good experiences with the CMP brand. CMP sells many different functional jackets that are water-repellent and breathable at the same time. There is a wide range of different products: from light softshell jackets, which I would see as an alternative to Nike, to thick ski jackets. I generally find the brand highly recommendable in the area of outdoor clothing.

Yogamatten

If you want to buy a high-quality yoga mat, you have to pay attention to how it is constructed. There are the typical yoga mats with small knobs on the top and bottom, which I cannot recommend. After a few years, the knobs usually wear out and they are often not non-slip, which defeats the purpose of a mat.

I have had a yoga mat from France for a few years now, which has a very nice design and is made of really good quality material. It is also very thin and non-slip, which is the most important quality of a good yoga mat in my opinion. It comes with a carrying strap, so it is easy to transport.

However, I have to say that ordering on the website is a bit complicated and you have to spend a lot of money on shipping to Germany. Therefore, I'll list a few alternatives.

A brand I would like to introduce is LUVIYO. They produce their yoga mats from sustainable materials. In addition, the brand supports elephants in need with every order, which I find very commendable and sustainable. The yoga mats are very thin and have an anti-slip surface for a good grip.

These mats also come with a carrying strap and there is even a travel yoga mat as a particularly space-saving option for on the go or at home.

The most expensive version of a high-quality yoga mat is the one from alo. The mats have a beautiful yet simple design and have therefore become increasingly popular on social media in recent years. This brand pays attention to sustainable materials and advertises a non-slip surface. However, the price is around €150, which I consider to be a bit expensive.

Trinkflasche

It is very important to drink enough water when exercising, which is why you should always take a water bottle with you when you train. For anyone who wants to appear as a sporty It-Girl, there is a special sports bottle from Lululemon. Its design is simple but very beautiful and it is also very functional.

The bottle is made of metal, which makes it very robust and there is no risk of the bottle breaking into sharp pieces. It is also insulated and keeps the water cold even on hot days. Another plus point is the straw, which allows you to take a sip from the bottle while you train. It can hold around 700 ml.

I personally use a glass bottle when I'm training and on the go. One brand that has convinced me in this regard is Spottle. I've had a bottle from this company for a while and it has never leaked, even when it's full of fizzy water. Each bottle also comes with a protective cover to protect it from breakage.

They have measuring units on some of their products, which makes it easier to drink enough water throughout the day. You can choose between different sizes.

However, since you have to be careful at many sports facilities because the use of glass bottles is not permitted everywhere, I would like to introduce you to a sports bottle from Nalgene. Nalgene is a very typical example of a brand that makes water bottles for sports.

Its light and practical design gives it many advantages and you can take it to the gym without any problems. The bottle is made of 50% recycled PET bottles, which makes the product a little more sustainable.

Tip: A bit of lemon juice or a small slice in the water makes it tastier, provides additional important vitamins and aids digestion.

Sonstiges

I can also recommend non-slip socks for training at home, as you cannot perform the exercises properly with normal socks - often due to the friction even on non-slip yoga mats.

As another fitness essential for anyone who wants to train their legs and bottom in particular, I recommend small fitness bands in different strengths, which provide resistance during the exercises and make the training more effective.

Weights can also be used to support your training. Bala weights can be easily strapped around your ankles or wrists, making some of your favorite workouts more difficult. They are not only very practical, but their beautiful design and wide range of great colors also make them a real eye-catcher.

HILFREICHE TIPPS

1.Tipp:

My first tip for you is that you shouldn't eat too much or eat very heavy meals before exercising. After a hearty meal, the body usually uses a lot of energy for digestion and so you don't have enough left to exert yourself through exercise.

2.Tipp:

This tip also revolves around eating: after your last meal, you should give your body a break of about half an hour before exercising. However, this rule is very individual and some people should even wait a little longer.

3.Tipp:

Every person has an internal clock that controls the entire metabolism in the body. You should adapt yourself and your training times to this internal clock in order to make the session as effective as possible. The best training times are from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Although these times are of course different for everyone, you can use these values as a guide.

4.Tipp:

This tip is the result of a psychological study and is intended to make it easier for people to create new habits and to stick to them consistently. In principle, it is a relatively simple trick to train yourself in your discipline:

You combine an existing, fixed habit or daily task with the new one. In this case, it would be the short exercise session, which you can combine with brushing your teeth or with a certain time of day, for example.

5.Tipp:

Organizing your time well is incredibly important. You just have to want it enough. Then you'll find time if you prioritize exercise. For my own inner satisfaction, it's very important that I manage to do everything I set out to do in a day.

That's why I exercise almost every day, but often only for half an hour. When you do online workouts or other things, they're usually very concentrated exercises that show results quickly. Nevertheless, it's always much easier to find a sporting hobby that you enjoy and that you can do with friends. That way, you're more motivated from the start and you're more likely to find time to exercise.

6.Tipp:

Of course, I also want to recommend my favorite YouTubers for workouts and yoga. The most famous YouTuber in Germany for guided exercise sessions is probably Pamela Reif. I love her workouts, although most of them are very demanding and you need to be in good shape beforehand. However, there are a wide variety of videos on her channel for different levels of difficulty.

Maddy Morrison, on the other hand, mainly does yoga and stretching. She also has different levels of difficulty. I think the guided videos are very good. There is a perfect routine for every situation that allows you to relax.

I hope that the article was able to provide some inspiration on the topic of fitness. Remember: your only limit is your head! If you liked this blog post, please check out my
